In Virginia, when someone unlawfully enters a house, business or another structure intending to commit a crime, he could be charged with burglary. Nothing has to be actually taken for burglary to be committed.
The alleged perpetrator does not have to physically break a window or break down a door for a burglary to occur. Simply entering through an unlocked door intending to steal something can constitute a burglary.
Burglary differs from robbery because no physical force against a person is used in a burglary.
